Alliance to participate in panel on “The Scramble for the Set-top” and demonstrate digital entertainment network over coax
SAN RAMON, CA– February 23, 2005– Multimedia Over Coax Alliance (MoCA), announced that its President, Ladd Wardani, is speaking at Digital Living Room 2005. The focus of the summit is the technologies and services that transforming the living room into a digital hub. Specifically, he will participate in a panel discussing “The Scramble for the Set-top.”
In addition to panel participation, MoCA will be demonstrating a home digital entertainment network, which will be running multiple streams of HDTV, multi-player gaming, and Internet over coax using MoCA Technology. MoCA is developing specifications for the transport of digital entertainment and information content over inhome coaxial cable.
MoCA’s founders are Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO), Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA, CMCSK), EchoStar (NASDAQ: DISH), Entropic Communications, Motorola (NYSE: MOT), Panasonic (NYSE: MC), Radio Shack (NYSE: RSH), and Toshiba. One of the most important devices in a MoCA network will be the set-top box. MoCA enables the set-top box to be the hub of the digital entertainment home network without new wires. With MoCA, a set-top box with an integrated DVR or cable modem will be able to communicate with PC media centers, thin clients and other devices to become a whole-house network solution. This will extends high definition DVR capabilities to all televisions in the house and broadband data to all PCs.
By tapping into the vast amount of unused bandwidth available on coaxial cables installed within homes, MoCA’s technology delivers HD and DVD quality digital entertainment without compromise. MoCA technology was developed from the ground up to address the key requirements for networking digital entertainment: high throughput, quality of service, security, and ease of use.
Mr. Wardani is also the co-founder and Vice President of Business Development for Entropic Communications. He has over 20 years of experience in the development of communications systems and products over satellite, coaxial cable, wireline and wireless, from silicon solutions to box product, terminals and full networks. In April, Mr. Wardani will speak at The National Show where MoCA will also have a hardware demo.
In May, MoCA will showcase its solution at Parks Associates CONNECTIONS: The Digital Home Conference and Showcase where Mr. Wardani will also speak.
