Alliance to participate in panel on “Video over the Home Network”-
SAN RAMON, CA– September 29, 2005– Multimedia Over Coax Alliance (MoCA),
announced that John Graham, Vice President, Marketing of Entropic Communications is
speaking on behalf of the Alliance at Broadband World Forum Europe 2005. He will
participate in one of the Forum’s opening panels discussing “Video over the Home
Network” on October 4th, 2005.
The focus of the conference is learning the business models, deployment strategies, and rollout practices that have proven successful in making mass-market broadband in Europe a reality. Mr. Graham will be discussing how operators can enrich their DSL and FTTH broadband offerings by supplying new services like video over top of existing broadband Internet services. This is made possible when telecom service providers provide IPTV, HD, whole house PVR and VOD directly to the television or set-top box via a high-speed MoCA home network.
By tapping into the vast amount of unused bandwidth available on coaxial cables installed within homes, MoCA’s technology delivers HD and DVD quality digital entertainment without compromise. MoCA technology was developed from the ground up to address the key requirements for networking digital entertainment: high throughput, quality of service, security, and ease of use. MoCA is developing specifications for the transport of digital entertainment and information content over in-home coaxial cable. MoCA now stands alone as the only home networking alliance to include Tier 1 members from each of the key digital entertainment service providers – cable, satellite, and telecom, as well as leading networking equipment and consumer electronics manufacturers and retailers. MoCA’s board of directors includes Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO), Entropic Communications, Motorola (NYSE: MOT), Panasonic (NYSE: MC), and Toshiba.
