Broadcom Delivers Whole Home Connectivity with New MoCA®-Integrated HD Set-Top Box Technology for DIRECTV

Fully Integrated Broadcom® System-on-a-Chip Solution Opens the Way for Cost-Effective and Fast Multi-Room Entertainment

IRVINE, Calif., – May 10, 2011 – Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, today announced its BCM7340 HD satellite set-top-box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) is powering the next generation of DIRECTV HD receivers that allow customers to watch shows recorded in HD on a DVR in any room in the home.

Broadcom's BCM7340 HD satellite STB SoC with integrated MoCA reduces overall cost and power requirements for deploying whole-home connected STBs. Broadcom's new SoC is built into DIRECTV's H25 HD receiver, a next generation networked set-top box that began shipping this month.

Key Facts:
The Broadcom BCM7340 HD satellite STB SoC solution features an integrated MoCA core for whole-home multimedia content sharing and power management for energy efficiency. Other key features include advanced audio/video decompression supporting the H.264 standard, rich on-screen graphics, a powerful CPU which improves overall system performance, and robust security technologies.

Compared to previous product generations, the DIRECTV HD H25 receiver features built-in MoCA, faster system performance, and a smaller enclosure that is mountable behind flat panel TVs.
