Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices joins the Multimedia over Coax Alliance
MUNICH; SAN RAMON, CA, January 17, 2006 – Siemens AG (NYSE: SI) Home and Office Communication Devices, market leader in DSL customer premises equipment (CPE), has joined the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA - TM). Siemens Home and Office Communications Devices is expected to help drive adoption of coax as the delivery medium for networking of home digitial entertainment. MoCA membership highlights Siemens’ commitment to solving the in-home wiring challenges that operators face as they move towards IPTV-based entertainment and other high-bandwidth services.
MoCA develops and promotes the standard for the transport of digital entertainment over coax. By tapping into the vast amount of unused bandwidth available on coaxial cables already installed within homes, MoCA-enabled and certified products seamlessly deliver HDTV and DVD quality digital entertainment to consumers.
