MoCA Adds New Membership Class

Contributor Class adds another dimension to growing momentum for MoCA

San Ramon, CA, May 1, 2007 — MoCA is further opening the technology's development and promotion process with a new class of membership - the Contributor Class. This new membership class is an addition to the promoter and associate levels already in existence.

Contributor class members will participate in the development of new specifications with voting rights. The Contributor level of membership also allows participation in existing work groups as chair and/or contributor, proposal of new items in existing work groups along with access and commentary to MoCA exclusive communication.

"This new membership class signifies both the growing acceptance of MoCA as the standard for home entertainment networks over coax as well as maturity of the organization," said Charlie Cerino, president of MoCA and vice president of new services technologies at Comcast Corporation. "Introduction of this new class shows that we are truly open and welcome input to help further proliferate the standard."

"MoCA is moving into another phase of its adoption cycle at a rapid pace," said Brian Whitton, promoter and board member of MoCA and executive director of broadband access technologies for Verizon Communications. "Contributor class members are adding a new dimension to the standard that can only make it stronger and more pervasive."

Contributor class members have access to MoCA's intellectual property under a reasonable and non-discriminatory (RAND) licensing environment, as well as the ability to certify MoCA compliance of their own products, ensuring a standards-based solution.
