MoCA could have greater role in hybrid home networks

Growing levels of interest in multi-room DVR in Europe and the need for simultaneous HD streams around the home should boost interest in MoCA, which provides high levels of QoS for video over coax. But according to Rob Gelphman, Chair, Marketing Work Group at MoCA, the standard can also be used for the home multimedia backbone as consumers demand higher quality, rather than just convenience, for gaming and OTT video. Thanks to IEE P1905 it will also be possible to utilise MoCA as part of a hybrid home network that combines the mobility of Wi-Fi, ubiquity of Powerline and reliability of MoCA.
